This box is slightly larger than the new tiny boxes, but it’s still small.Apart from that, it has two wall mounting holes and comes with a pair of raw plugs/screws which is nice, my new netgear doesn’t have the wall mounting points at all.The best features though is that this box has ethernet connection indicator LEDS that are Amber(10/100Mbps) or Green (1Gbps)My new netgear only has green LEDs and it is surprising what a nuisance that is when you are upgrading a 100Mb network to 1Gb and some of the cables are not quite upto the job and need replacing.
A Nerd –
I’m a bit of a nerd so have too many electronics. Most broadband providers don’t seem to acknowledge that and supply routers/hubs with 1 or 2 Ethernet ports – Sky don’t “support” your connection if your don’t use their router and also helpfully require 1 of the available 2 ports for the SkyQ box if you want to use it as part of a mesh network… leaving me with 1 port. 1 measly port for all my nerd crap.I bought this as a cheap way of increasing port capacity right next to the router. I didn’t need anything fancy, just quick and reliable Ethernet connectivity, this has done just that. It’s lightweight and small so tucks nicely behind the router.
