I’m always up for a foot rub so this looked interesting. It’s simple to operate, you just plug it in and press the button. One press to start the massaging heads, a second press brings red light and a gentle warmth. You rest your feet on the cloth “window” and the heads revolve to do their work. It was hard to get the foot position exactly right and the modules are very hard so you need to sit at an angle which doesn’t put your full body weight on your feet if that makes sense. Once you’ve got the knack it does give a pleasant “massage” sensation.

The Beurer FM39UK Shiatsu Foot Massager is a neat, well-made machine that is easy to operate, takes up little space and has quite literally changed my restless nights into smooth sleeping. The unit plugs into a standard 3-pin socket; there is a conveniently placed switch at the centre front which you can operate by foot if you wish. One click is on and the rolly balls oscillate and revolve ; two clicks give you a red light and heat, three clicks switch off the machine.Initially it felt and looked quite strange to see my toes wriggling and jiggling autonomously; the points at which the rotating balls meet the foot do feel like fingertips but are not tickly or irritating. Far from it, I find the massage a very pleasant sensation. You can arrange your foot (or feet) so that each area can be massaged as you wish, which is very helpful if you have stiffness in your toes or an ache in the ball of the foot.More importantly, the foot massager has benefits I did not expect. I use it nightly. The leg and foot cramps that have dogged me for years have eased; the tendonitis in the instep has virtually gone; I get into bed relaxed and fall asleep right away. I used to dread bedtime because I knew I’d be awake until the small hours but since using this unit, I have slept easily and well. It links to reflexology in that certain areas of the foot feel more tender than others, relating to discomfort elsewhere in the body. The gentle massage seems to ease the pain. Having the heater built-in is also very useful – no more ice-block feet when winter comes! The stimulation of the massage coupled with the comfort of a littlewhen the C-time is upon us. I cannot recommend this foot massager highly enough. I love it.

really works so well, heats up quickly. Is comfortable to use. Just a wee bit noisier than I thought

Seems to help with aching legs and the warm function is a bonus

I believe that these types of massagers can help relaxation and this is no different. It’s reasonably weighty and has rubberised feet to prevent it from slipping around when under your feet, but not too heavy that you can’t just carry it up/down stairs to sit in your favourite chair. It has a simple on/off button that is also used to activate the ‘heat’ function of the rotating massagers (press once for on, press again for heat function and press once more for off). Although the added heat is nice, I personally think that it could be a little hotter to help relaxation but maybe that’s just something personal. What I really liked about it is that you can put as much pressure on it as you like (obviously not stand on it). So you can adjust the angle as well as pressure to get the spots that feel best for you.Obviously don’t use it if you have any feet injuries, sprains and such when you should seek professional advice. Otherwise it’s a nice relaxing massager that will remain plugged in near our sofa.
